Two planes owned to Arik Air, yesterday, brushed one another whereas manoeuvring out of the apron at the overall Aviation Terminal, GAT, of Murtala Muhammed airport, Lagos.
The two planes had their wing tips broken and are grounded to permit more investigation into the incident.
Reacting to the incidence, voice of the airline, Mr. Adebanji ola, aforementioned during a statement: “Two of our aircraft, Boeing 737-800NG were this afternoon (yesterday) concerned during a wing-tip brush at the general Aviation Terminal, GAT, of Murtala Muhammed airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
“One of the craft, 5N-MJP, was marshalled out of the ramp for a regular flight, once its wing brushed that of another aircraft, 5N-MJQ, set on the ramp.
“There were no incidences because the safety of passengers wasn't jeopardized. we've grounded the 2 aircraft and are still looking into the incident.”
A similar incidence happened recently at the Murtala Muhammed airport terminal two, MMA2, in Lagos, when there was a ground collision of 2 craft owned to FirstNation Airways.
Another similar incident additionally occurred at the airport on july 6th, following the collision of 2 aircraft owned to Emirates and Hak Air.
The incident, that happened at about mid-day, involved 2 airliner 330 conveying no fewer than 250 passengers. the 2 aircraft had their bodies partly broken.
One of the aircraft was burdensome from the runway to MMA2 to disengage passengers, whereas the opposite aircraft was getting ready to take off to Port Harcourt airport from the same terminal.
It was alleged that the pilot might have been misdirected to the incorrect part of the apron.
