Six(6) school kids suffocated yesterday after a canoe they boarded to convey every one of them fourteen to class from Ojo to Irawe pier in Lagos slammed into a fiber vessel which caused their boat to turn up-side-down in them river. 8 of the kids and the driver were saved 6 suffocated and drowned.
The saved kids who are primary and secondary students are responding to treatment at the Igando general clinic.
The representative of the South West district of thte National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye affirmed the episode and said the body of the 6 children who suffocated has not been found.
"The 14 school kids were being passed on crosswise over Ojo to Irawe wharf, to class. 8 of the youngsters and the kayak driver have been protected. 5 have been taken to Igando General Hospital for treatment, 3 have been released home. 6 kids are yet to be recuperated as I talk. Pursuits will proceed with tomorrow" he said.
